CBI China to Present 3rd Asia Ship Recycling & SNP Summit:

'Green' standards -- How to bring dreams down to earth?
Sales & Purchase - Grasping opportunity in adversity!

The 3rd Asia Ship Recycling & SNP Summit is to be held in Shanghai by CBI China, June 30th-July 1st, 2011.

The year 2011 will see mass deliveries of new-build ships, which will worsen the existing surplus; the Libyan turbulence has fueled the rise of oil prices; the Inflation pressure has added to the complexity of the European debt crisis. Under the circumstances -
  • How many ships will be scrapped?
  • Will the SNP market find its turning point?
  • What influences will be exerted on the new-build market, and how will the shipping industry go on in future?
The ship recycling market geared down after a transit rally at the beginning of 2010. Although the revival of Bangladeshi shipyards stimulated scrap prices, what is the market potential?

In the steel market, Japan's five major steel mills were badly hit by the recent devastating earthquake. Meanwhile, it remains a question when the global steel demand will recover.

In aspect of policies -
  • What are the updates about the HK Convention enacted in 2009?
  • What benefits will the Recyclecon contract bring to the ship owners and ship recycling industry?
  • What measures will the Chinese authorities take to make it more feasible in China?
On the other hand, the SNP market is tough due to overcapacity.
  • What factors in the future will influence the SNP prices?
  • As the Western countries' economy recovered slowly and China lifted the threshold for ship financing, how is the prospect for the industry?
  • How will ship owners invest in such a complex situation?
  • Is it the right time to buy now?
  • What are the influences of the revision of Saleform 93?
  • How to make SNP contracts better meet Asian ship owners' demand?
